Accessibility Statement

StudySite is designed toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA for StudySite-owned web interfaces. Accessibility is a product and release requirement. This statement describes our current practices and known limitations; it is not a claim that every route, item of instructor-created content, or embedded third-party tool has completed independent conformance review.
Current accessibility practices
- Semantic HTML, landmarks, ordered headings, programmatic labels, and status/error announcements are required in StudySite-owned UI.
- Keyboard operation, visible focus, a skip-to-content link, and color-independent status cues are product contracts.
- Light and dark themes use semantic color tokens designed for WCAG AA contrast.
- Signed-in users can persist text-size, high-contrast, and reduced-motion preferences from Settings. Browser zoom, operating system preferences, and assistive technology remain independently supported.
- Public and authenticated staging routes are scanned with axe-core against WCAG 2.0/2.1 A and AA rules before a release can be promoted.
- Generated diagrams require text alternatives; learner-facing audio and conversational experiences retain visible transcripts or captions as the authoritative content.
Conformance documentation and testing
StudySite does not yet publish a completed Accessibility Conformance Report or VPAT. Automated testing cannot establish complete conformance. Manual keyboard, zoom/reflow, contrast, reduced-motion, screen-reader, and assistive-technology-user evaluation are tracked in our public accessibility roadmap before the 1EdTech self-assessment is submitted.
Known limitations
- The learning canvas split-pane workflow still needs complete independent screen-reader and keyboard-only evaluation.
- Monaco, TipTap, Clerk, Featurebase, payment surfaces, and sandboxed visualizations include third-party interfaces with their own accessibility behavior. We test the StudySite integration boundary but cannot represent unreviewed vendor DOM as StudySite conformance.
- Instructor-uploaded or instructor-authored documents may vary in accessibility. StudySite supplies validation and alternative-text affordances, but an instructor or institution remains responsible for reviewing the learning materials they publish.
- A qualified third-party review and evaluation with native assistive-technology users remain pending.
Documents, alternatives, and accommodations
StudySite publishes its own policies and support material in semantic HTML when practical. If a document, activity, or workflow is not usable with your assistive technology, contact us. We will work with the user and institution to provide an accessible format, equivalent workflow, or other reasonable alternative while remediation is underway.
Report an accessibility barrier
Email admin@studysite.aiwith “Accessibility” in the subject. Include the page URL, browser, assistive technology, steps that exposed the barrier, and the format or alternative you need. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days, provide an initial severity and workaround assessment within five business days, and communicate a remediation target or continuing accommodation when investigation requires more time.
